Reverse Engineering Cannondale Frame Measurements for Custom Design

As a key member of a small custom bicycle frame builder, I was tasked with gathering crucial measurements of the Cannondale 54 frame. Although the new model is likely carbon fiber, our aluminum frames serve a unique niche. My objective was to discreetly measure various frame metrics at a nearby trade show to inform our design process. I will calculate essential measurements—including seat stay length, angles between stays and tubes, and the down tube length—to support our engineering team in creating a competitive product.

  2. You work for a small custom bicycle frame builder. Your boss has heard that Cannondale will reveal its newest model frame at a trade show in a nearby city. Although Cannondale’s model will most likely be made from carbon fiber, your boss remains undaunted since your custom aluminum frames fill a niche between entry-level frames and high-end carbon-fiber frames. Nonetheless, he has sent you to discretely measure the Cannondale frame so your design group can begin the reverse-engineering process immediately upon your return. Although you do your best, you are missing a few measurements. Can you calculate them to the nearest tenth? NOTE: The list of missing measurements is not written in the order you necessarily need to solve them. Length of seat stay = Angle between seat stay and chain stay = Angle between seat stay and seat tube = Length of down tube = Angle between seat tube and down tube = Angle between seat tube and top tube = Show all work on a separate sheet. Organize and label your work so that your coworkers can follow it should there be a future question. Use appropriate units.
