  2. Watermen’s Industry Tonging is a technique used by watermen to harvest oysters from the bottom of local rivers and bays. The large, heavy tongs are difficult to maneuver and are used to scoop up oysters and dump them into the workboat. Dredging is also used, wherein a large mechanically driven instrument is used to collect larger numbers of oysters more quickly. Unfortunately, dredging can damage oyster beds and adversely effect future harvest populations. Thus, Cambridge’s watermen must choose between efficiency and conservation.

  5. Port to Park Sailwinds Park includes a 14,000 sq. ft. hall, 3½ acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, and a recently constructed visitors’ center. It is located directly adjacent to the Choptank River, and accommodates various weddings, concerts, banquets, trade shows, festivals, and other community events every year.
  6. Resorts Over Time The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay is located on 342 acres that were previously occupied by the Eastern Shore Hospital Center (State Mental Hospital). It features a 400 room 4-star resort, 35,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, an 18-hole championship golf course, an 18,000 sq. ft. spa, a 150 slip marina, a multi-level indoor/ outdoor swimming pool, six eateries, and a child recreation center.
  7. High Street High Street is a brick-paved landmark that is lined with 18th and 19th century Federal and Queen Anne homes. It is also home to the Christ Church, the County Courthouse, and the Dorchester Arts Center. The historic street leads to the Choptank River, and annually features the Dorchester Showcase. It highlights local arts, crafts, vendors, Eastern Shore cuisine (oysters, crab cakes, beat biscuits), and live jazz, folk, gospel, and country music.
  8. POST OFFICE The Post Office has gone through a lot of renovations over the years, but has maintained it’s original location and structure. Throughout it all the Post Office has continued to support the community it serves.
  9. NATURAL SPRINGS Located outside the Cambridge Court House, this fountain and bandstand was once the site of a speech from President Kennedy.
  10. The National Bank of Cambridge The National Bank of Cambridge was established in 1880, and is Dorchester County’s oldest chartered bank. All three of its branches are locally owned and operated. Their management and employees have provided customers with sound, secure banking assistance for over 120 years.
  11. The Eastern Shore's Oldest Daily Newspaper. Founded in 1897 The Daily Banner is located in Cambridge, within Maryland’s largest county.
