By the Numbers • $12.2B in Federal obligations for research and development. • First on a per capita basis • Second overall NSF, FY2004 • Maryland ranks first in NIH research and development grants - $757M NIH, FY2005 • Maryland ranks third in federal government R&D spending at universities and colleges with $1.77 billion. NIH, FY2005 • The FLC lists 58 Federal Labs in Maryland and DBED listed 92 Federal Research Centers in its 2007 Directory of Maryland Labs and Research Centers. We have a strong incentive to continue and further build our relationships with our Federal partners.
