VDX Implementation • Project proposal – Sept 2011 • Project Manager - May 2012 • RFQ – July 2012 • Evaluation • Contracts finalised – Dec 2013 • System configuration • Implementation – stage 1 – April 2013 • Implementation – stage 2 – May 2013
Evaluation • Team of 5 – 3 IT and 2 Library • Service requirements • Ability to meet ANU timeframes • Project personnel • Other implementation projects • Methodology • Fee structures • References
Outcome Very challenging to make a decision based on the evaluation criteria • Both met service requirements – neither had circulation functionality • Pricing similar • Presentations from VDX & Relais
VDX Decision • Confidence in after-sales service • Same product as LADD – familiarity of systems – less training involved • Known interoperability with ArticleReach • OCLC – administers updates • Excellent references from industry • Long term - WorldShareILL
Good and Bad • Project manager for contracts and IT • Web design assistance – instructions and webpage • Double-check - don’t assume test systems will be replicated in live system • Ensure budget includes in-house ‘release’ • Get the right IT people involved
