This paper by Kok et al. (2014) discusses the potential of targeting connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) pathways as a therapeutic strategy to slow the progression of kidney disease. The authors review the pathological roles of these factors in renal fibrosis and injury, and explore how modulation of these pathways may lead to improved outcomes in patients suffering from chronic kidney disease. The findings highlight the need for further research in this promising area.
