The Computer Store • Internal Audit under Mr. William Mulcahy conducted a review and determined operation is not fiscally viable • Goal of reducing temporary buildings on campus • Presenting 3 options to President’s Cabinet
Options • 1 -- Leave situation as is – not viable • 2 -- Define contract negotiation and procurement in coordination with University Purchasing and Follett (Campus Bookstore) • 3 -- Define contract negotiation and procurement entirely through Follett
Transition Team • Bill Mulcahy, Chief Audit Officer • Erick Gaither, Sr. Assoc VP for Business Management • Rex Hardaway, Director of Purchasing • In coordination with John Ford, Sr VP and Dean for Campus Life
Option 2 Details • Negotiations with vendors for hw coordinated by Rex Hardaway, Univ Purchasing • Dell, Apple, IBM, HP, others • 200-300 sq ft footprint in bookstore • Inventory will be sold to Follett • No inventory maintained on site
Details • SDC purchases will be able to be picked up in bookstore – arrangements to be worked out • Staff will be absorbed by Purchasing or Follett • Follett will serve as purchasing agent for campus

Bb’s History at Emory • Testing began in 1999 • University adopted in 2000 • Courseinfo 4 • Blackboard 5 • Blackboard 5.5 – current production • Blackboard 6.1 • Over 1200 course sites • About 40% active each semester • Approximately 29 organization sites
Tech Tidbit • Dual server configuration • Application • Oracle database • Note: add’l dual servers for Tech Svcs & ATG testing • LDAP enabled NEW! • Network ID and password • PeopleSoft feed • Community access to system NEW! • Student access to hosted classes per faculty requests • Guests manually added • Blackboard authentication fallback

EmoryLink • Campus wide initiative to examine integrated messaging, calendar, and collaboration solution. • Sponsored by Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Mike Mandl and Provost Earl Lewis. • Project lead is John Ellis, Director of Academic Technologies & Interim Director of Tech Services • Goal is to deliver a document with a recommendation for a campus wide solution.
Methodology • Form Advisory Group • Includes representation from faculty, staff, students, administration, and IT campus professionals • Gather user and business requirements • Surveys, meetings, town hall discussions, etc. • Feed requirements into technical design • Evaluate vendors
