Bell Schedule Eight Period Bell Schedule Basics of the day School begins: 8:40am School ends: 3:40pm 4 minutes between classes Lockers assigned Parent Drop-Offs – NOT before 8:10am in the Main Gymnasium Lot 6th graders report to Small Gym until 8:25am bell rings to dismiss to lockers/class (15 min) Students use same Card Credit # for student lunches • 1st period • 2nd period • 3rd period • 4th period (LUNCH PERIOD) • 5th period (LUNCH PERIOD) • 6th period (LUNCH PERIOD) • 7th period • 8th period * 8.5/Friday Advisory

What is 8.5? • The affective piece of education • Educating the “Whole” Student • A chance for students to learn something that is not necessarily connected to core classes • Students have the opportunity to experience various 8.5 classes throughout the school year. • The 8.5 class will change various rounds throughout the year. *These choices are not made until later in the spring.

  7. The Elective Options: Pick TWO! Music Electives • Chorus • Cadet Band • Cadet Orchestra Art Elective • Art Foundations Music/Art Elective Exploratory Music ½ year & Exploratory Art ½ year Technology Elective Robotics & Design

  8. Elective Choice #1 & #2 • We will do our BEST to give each student BOTH of their elective choices. • Reasons WHY a student may not get both of their electives: 1. Course enrollment #’s 2. If a student is identified to need more support specifically in the areas of English OR Math – they will have an extra period “block” for support.

  9. Special Education • NOTE: If your child is on an Individual Education Plan (IEP), our Shore administration and guidance staff work closely in the spring with your child’s classroom teacher, case manager and principal to ensure we are meeting their needs for recommended courses and programs.

CAMP • All 6th grade students • Held at The Hiram House • September Sixth grade camp is a wonderful opportunity for students to strengthen their transition to middle school and is integrated into the 6th grade curriculum. Fundraising takes place in the 5th grade. Specific details are shared August orientation.
