About Myself… • Teaching at Valley Vista for 17 years! • I live in Brunswick with my husband, Bryan and two kids, Samantha (9) and Ethan (7)! • I have 3 pets: a chocolate lab named Buckeye, and two tropical birds, Tucson (macaw) and CoCo (cockatoo)! • We took our 1st Family Trip to Disney two weeks ago!

5. Healthy Snack We will eat a small snack everyday around 2:00! Thank you for sending your child to school with a healthy snack! Your brains will thank you!

7. behavior Behavior Calendar Class Dojo • A behavior calendar will be attached to your child’s take-home folder each month. If they get their car moved in class, they will color either yellow (warning) or • red (blue letter). • I know we will have a • “green” year! • This is a free behavior website that promotes a positive behavior environment! • I will be sending home a password with your child, and you can see how your child is behaving on a daily basis! • Feel free to contact me with questions!

8. Book clubs *almost every month *you can order on-line *I am not allowed to accept cash, only checks made out to Scholastic Book Clubs ~ thank you *classroom code: GX9K4 Reading opens our minds and takes us on new adventures each day!

9. Summer birthdays • If you would like to celebrate your • Summer Birthday, just let me know! You could celebrate your ½ birthday, or wait until the end-of-the-year, too!

10. Please Save a cereal box • We will be collecting 1 empty cereal box from every student over the next two weeks! So if you finish a box of cereal, please send it in with your child! We will be creating “book boxes” with them, so the larger the box, the better! • Thanks so much! 

11. homework • *assigned homework on a nightly basis • *your child will write down their assignments and bring home a “take home” folder every night • *please initial folder every night and have your child return it to school ~ thanks  • * 3 Strikes and You’re In: if your child does not turn in their homework 3 times, throughout the quarter, they will receive a blue letter and have to “stay in” during recess

12. Weekly quizzes • Daily Math Quiz • *will not start until 3rd quarter • *will be a math problem that we did in class together • Daily Edit Quiz • *every Friday • *will bring home their “daily edit” notebooks on Thursday to review • *I will choose 2 sentences that we already reviewed in class that week • *I will send home a practice sheet to help them prepare • *the answers are always on the back of my newsletter each week (so you can help them practice) 
