  3. “Peace with Honor”- Nixon • 1968 Richard Nixon elected President • Lyndon Johnson does not run for re-election • Nixon did not want to be the 1st president to lose a war, but war also very unpopular • Vietnamization: Nixon’s policy after takes office in 1969 • pulling out US troops and giving responsibility to S. Vietnamese • Election strategy to appease the American public?
