  5. Primary (p) Waves • Travel through solids, liquids, and gases • Fast moving – 1st to register after earthquake • Move by compression and expansion

  6. Secondary (s) Waves • Travels only through solids • Refracted and reflected by liquids and solids • Slower moving • Move perpendicular through material
