  3. In the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Jesse Owens earned four gold medals in track and field events.

  4. While receiving praise in Berlin for his Olympic accomplishments back in the U.S. he suffered from segregation.

  5. Even after his ticker tape parade honoring his accomplishments in the Berlin Olympics , Jesse Owens was still shamefully forced to use the freight elevator simply because he was an African America.

  6. Jesse Owens was put through intense eugenic testing and experiments to further comprehend his superior athletic ability.

  7. After extensive research scientists could find no physical explanation that would lead them to believe he had athletic advantages because of his ethnicity.

  8. Despite his struggles as an African American in the United States he set 2 new world record for the 220-yd Dash with a time of 20.3 seconds and 220-yd low hurdle with a time of 22.6 seconds.

  9. Jesse Owens through everything in his life always remembered the importance of family; he was known for being a devoted husband and father. He ended up marrying his high school sweetheart and with her he had three daughters. Unfortunately, in 1980 at the age of 66 in Tuscan, Arizona, he died of complications from lung cancer.

  10. Although Owens had several accomplishments in his life he is best known for his accomplishments in the 1936 Olympics that took place in Berlins, here is a video of Jesse Owen in a race where he won the gold.
