  2. The things that we are going to present are: • The focus of the action plan • Target group/area • Expected outcomes • The procedure followed • Achievements • Areas that were not fulfilled and the reasons • The problems that the committee members faced • Suggestions for further improvement

  3. THE FOCUS OF THE ACTION PLAN: Our aim was to organize a contest held in the schools attending this conference. We were hopingto save the organisms from the pollution around them that is blocking and limiting their living factors. With the help of the display posters prepared by the schools we hoped to raise the awareness of the situation.

  4. TARGET GROUP/AREA: The locations of the action were • KocSchool, • ODTU (Middle East Technical University), • Robert College, • Adapazariand İstanbul EnkaSchools, • HisarEducational Foundation Schools campus.

  5. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: • Creatingmore awareness in the schools that we study in • Warningthe people about the future threat of the ecosystem losses. • Makingpeople be more conscious about the importance of ecology and ecosystems.

  6. THE PROCEDURE FOLLOWED: Five slogans were prepared. The slogans were: • “Çöptoplayalım.” Pick up trash. • “Ağaçkesmeyelim.” Don’t cut down trees. • “Denizeçöpatmayalım.” Don’t put trash into the ocean. • “Hayvanlarıincitmeyelim.” Don’t harm animals. • “Geri dönüşümkullanalım.” Use recycle. We wanted the other schools to be involved in the project to help create awareness for the environment so we asked to the primary school students to select one of the slogans and create attention getter posters, by drawing and painting.

  7. ACHIEVEMENTS: The project was not as successful as we hoped. We weren’t able to get people’s attention and achieve our expectations.

  8. AREAS THAT WERE NOT FULFILLED AND THE REASONS: • Becauseof the insufficient advertisement and the lack of contact and communication • The prize of the competition being not appealing enough to the students so they didn’t choose to participate • Communicationproblems within the students of the different schools • Changes inthe date of the competition and the announcement of the competition date two days later than it began, giving students not enough time to get prepared. • The presentation of the project, which wasn’t clear and attractive enough so the students didn’t know what they were getting themselves into.

  9. THE PROBLEMS THAT THE COMITTEE MEMBERS FACED: MilliEğitimBakanlığı (The Ministry of Education) didn’tgive permission to do the competition It effectedthe date and the number of the students The lack of participation to the poster competition

SUGGESTIONS FOR FURTHER IMPROVEMENT: • install a better system of communication • be clearer to the participants of the competition while we were doing the advertisements, about the prize that the winner would receive and our mission. • instead of the art department, weshould have gone directly to the students, • some changes about the topics can be made, such as decreasing the number of the topics in order to make them more general. • the topics can be more creative instead of being simple or we can leave it to the participants’ imagination and let them choose their own topics.
