  3. course description • Publications is a comprehensive Senior course that merges art with technology to produce art based publications • Students are exposed to a deeper study of modern art through a variety of techniques, processes, and applications • Publications encourages students to communicate and express themselves and their ideas in unique and creative ways

  4. in this course, we will… • Experience working with a variety of technical media and processes • Spend half the semester working to produce the Yearbook and spend the other half of the semester studying photography • Experience working on collaborative projects • Experience group critiques and learn how to properly respond to our own work and the work of others • Keep a personal sketchbook. This will remain in the classroom for the whole course and will be used daily in taking important notes, sketches for upcoming projects, and jotting down ideas for personal projects

  5. supplies • The only required supply item is a basic composition notebook • This will remain in the room all semester and will serve as their sketchbook throughout the course

  6. homework • Most work done in the classroom (effort and participation are important!) • No daily homework assigned (unless work is not completed in class) • Occasional assignment to look for inspiration for an upcoming project

  7. grading • Projects – 50% (25%-effort, 25%-ability to follow directions) • Sketchbook (notes, designs) – 30% • Final Exam – 20%(this includes a written test mid-semester and a final project and critique at the end of the semester)
