Explore the significant role of Protected Landscapes in England, including National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs), and other vital areas, in preserving biodiversity. Covering around 24% of England's land surface, these landscapes present a mix of natural and agricultural environments. This paper discusses the governance and management of these areas, their ecological importance, and the necessity for a collective effort to enhance and conserve the natural beauty, wildlife, and public enjoyment. Join the movement towards a renaissance in biodiversity delivery for England's landscapes.

Protected Landscapes Sleepinggiants of England’s biodiversity??
Welcome to …. ….the ‘National Park Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ (the NPAONB)
Upland = 10,821 km2 PLs = 30,937 km2 % = 35
England’s PLs – vital stats: • 24% of land surface • More lowland than upland • More farmland than semi-natural • Almost as much woodland as other semi-natural • A southern and northern distribution
PLs parts of England Resource – some key variables for biodiversity
BoCC (red/amb.) species – proportion of all BBS counts found in PLs
