  1. Summer School July 8-August 8, 2013

  2. General Stuff • Classes run for 5 weeks. Monday-Thursday only. Summer school office = 8th grade • Period 1- ELA 7 and Math 8-9:00-10:00 • Period 2- ELA 8 and Math 7- 10:15-11:15 • Period 3- Spanish 7- 11:30-12:30 • Please arrive only for classes you are taking • When you classes for the day are over, please leave the MS. No waiting for friends.

  3. Each day • Enter and exit through the lollipop doors • You are restricted to the area between your classroom and the lollipop. If you need a drink you may use the one outside room 85 • You may proceed to class 2 minutes before start time. Until then you need to be on the carpet • If you ride a bike you may leave it outside the lollipop. Awnings are there for rainy days

  4. Behavior • Behavior on grounds is governed by the CCSD Code of Conduct. Consequences are still a possibility if you make a bad choice. • At no time should you be anywhere outside the area described in the last slide • Classroom rules are in addition to these rules • If you need a copy of the Code of Conduct please see the District website or come to the office

  5. Attendance • You may have a maximum of 2 absences and still qualify for summer school credit in a course. • 1 full period missed = 1 absence • Tardy up until 30 minutes into class = ½ absence • Removal from class = ½ absence • Remember, some of you are recommended to be here, some of you are required to be here. Big Difference!

  6. Recommended for SS • If you are Recommended to be here: • Advancement to the next grade is not in jeopardy • If you failed (or were not successful in) English or SS, you have been invited to ELA class • If you failed (or were not successful in) Math or Science, you have been invited to Math class • All behavioral and attendance guidelines are still in effect

  7. Required for SS • If you are Required to be here, you need to pass ALL classes in order to advance to the next grade level • Exception to this is if you are required only to take Spanish 7. If that’s the case and you don’t pass Summer School, you will repeat Spanish 7 as an 8th Grader • Please don’t test us on this policy. We mean it!

  8. A final note • Regardless of the letter you received, you all have work to do to get ready for next year. • This work will take your dedicated time and perseverance to be successful. • Much lower tolerance for misbehavior. Keep that in mind. We only have 20 days to get a year’s worth of learning done! • Whatever situations or circumstances got you here, this is a fresh start. Your teachers and I are here to make sure you get everything you need for success. It really is in your hands to make the most of this opportunity!
