  3. Table Partner Work • Define the word “measurement” • 30 seconds • How is measurement used in Agriculture (examples of what measurement is used for)

  4. Measurement • The process or the result of determining the ratio of a physical quantity, such as a length, time, temperature etc.

  5. Table Partner Work • Figure out the length and width of the table using your hand(s) • Figure out the length and width of the table using the piece of string in the envelope

  6. Indirect Measurement • A technique that uses proportions to find a measurement when direct measurement is not possible.

  7. Indirect Devices • Device used to determine measurement and then transferred to a ruler or scale • String, foot, hand

  8. Table Partner Work • Figure out the length and width of the table using the tape measure provided for you

  9. Direct Measurement • A process of obtaining the measurement of some entity by reading a measuring tool

  10. Direct Devices • Devices that provide a measuring scale on the device • Ruler, measuring tape, yard stick
