  1. You Asked for It! • Continuous System Pump Operation • On screen programming enables to operate only on a call for heat or to run continuously. • Set Parameter I6 to WWSD for continuous pump. • Note: continuous pump will shut down during WWSD • Ramp Delay on Screen Programming • No PC Necessary. • Program up to 6 steps both time and temperature to take full advantage of Smart System Modulation

  2. 5 min/80% 2 min/70% 2 min/60% 2 min/50% 10 min/40% 5 min/20% Ramp Delay for Cascade Perfectly sized boilers don’t exist. For that reason, Lochinvar includes the Ramp Delay function in our NEW Smart System control. With Ramp Delay and Cascade now functioning together boiler plants can be tuned to a buildings actual load not it’s design load. Use these two great features together to extend run times and improve temperature control. Step #1 Step #2 Step #3 Step #4 Step #5 Step #6

  3. BMS 0-10V BMS control of Cascade For the controls contractor that truly wants to be in control, this new feature is a dream come true. No longer will wiring from the BMS panel to each unit be required. With the 0-10V signal sent to the leader when Cascade is enabled the leader boiler is able to distribute this “power” signal to all units in the boiler plant. With this new feature your contractor reduces installation expense by reducing wiring costs. Additionally, coordination/design time is limited by channeling all communication through one unit.

  4. Adjustable Cascade Delay Dial it in baby! Now the NEW Smart System allows even more customization of the Cascade function. The on screen programming enables control of minimum run time and next unit delay time. Parameters H11 and H12 give the installer the ability to tune the boiler plant to match the load and extend the life time of the boiler by limiting cycling. Every building is different. Shouldn’t the boiler plant be able to adapt to these varying conditions?

  5. Efficiency Optimized Cascade • Increased System Efficiency • Up to 2% increase in boiler thermal efficiency • Minimum system flow can be a concern • No 3rd party sequencer • No customized programming or coordination with BMS Now you can take advantage of all the efficiency capabilities built into the Knight boiler. Selecting the Efficiency Optimization (EFF) option, on screen, at parameter H7 allows the boiler plan to drive it’s modulation as low as possible. Reducing the modulation rate improves overall boiler plant efficiency while at the same time spreading the operating hours across the entire boiler plant. Additionally, our Lead Lag Cascade has been improved to reduce short cycling of the lag boiler(s). By modulating two lag boilers instead of only one ,we spread the variable part of the load over two units. In doing so we have eliminated the “dead-zone”

  6. Boiler Pump Cruise Control Delta T! We talk about it all the time. We do so because it makes a difference in how a boiler or heating system performs. But with changing heat loads and a modulating burner maintaining the desired Delta T is challenging … unless the boiler firing rate and boiler pump are communicating. This is where the NEW Smart System 0-10 V boiler pump control shines. Now, using the available PC Software you can program your desired Delta T and then let the boiler adjust it’s flow rate based on it’s firing rate. This means the system always receives a consistent volume of heated water from the boiler. It means the boiler runs longer. And it means the firing rate can be more consistent which reduces stress on the components. Last but not least the owner saves electricity by operating a variable speed motor.

  7. Info In and Info Out – Making Things Work In today's mechanical room there are a number of smart devices. These devices have lots of info to share but many times don’t speak the same language. And while controls experts are better at making these devices talk not every job can afford this type of complexity. That where the NEW Smart System 0-10V VFD Pump Input and 0-10V Firing Rate Output signals are valuable. With these new tools our NEW Smart System control can adjust it’s firing rate based on the changing speed of a VFD system pump. This information exchange prevents over-firing of the boiler and thus reduces cycling. Additionally, the 0-10V Boiler Rate Output signal keeps the BMS informed of changing heat demand . The value of these features is not only easier and less expensive coordination of key building components but also the simplicity of the application. There is no specialized programming required meaning you are the expert which will highlight your value to all involved in the project. BMS

  8. Modbus Optional Modbus Communication Building owners and managers are control freaks. Control companies don’t like to share. And equipment suppliers can’t figure out who’s language to speak. All of this makes life difficult for the engineer. With our NEW Smart System and Modbus offering Lochinvar is trying to simplify the BMS communication conundrum. Modbus is commonly recognized building management protocol. It is compatible with many existing building management systems. Additionally and likely most importantly, a number of Modbus gateways are available to translate the Modbus information available thru the NEW Smart System. This communication flexibility improves acceptance on projects dependent on building management .

  9. Hot Water – Right Sized There are a number of benefits to using a high efficiency heating boiler to make domestic hot water too. Reduced equipment costs, reduced installation costs and reduced maintenance costs, just to name a few. Unfortunately, the heating load and domestic load aren’t always compatible forcing a boiler to cycle when to big. But with Lochinvar’s new Domestic Hot Water Limiting feature they don’t have to be. DWH limiting allows the installer to reduce the maximum firing rate of the boiler all the way down to 20% of it’s rated capacity when in DHW mode. This limiting, has no affect on firing rates when the boiler is in heating mode. These available adjustments enable a large boiler to service a relatively smaller heating load without cycling.

  10. Armor got Smart Too! An integral part of any domestic hot water system is the recirculation system. Having hot water is good but waiting more than 15-20 seconds for it exit the fixture is not. Building recirculation system keep hot water where it is needed at the fixture. But what about when it isn’t needed? Circulating hot water even thru insulated pipes when there is no chance for usage is a waste of energy . The NEW Smart System on the Armor has contacts to control a building recirculation pump enabling a start or stop based on the Smart System’s internal clock. Using this night set back feature reduces pump electrical consumption and hot water heat loss thus reducing gas consumption too.
