  1. Babeş-Bolyai University Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Biochemical Engineering ‘’ Re - Re- Students: BujdeiAndreea-Ancuta Kirner Angela Nagy Botond ‘’ Group: IB Study-year: IV Prof.: Cristina Felea

  2. Genes • the basic physical and functional units of heredity • are carried on chromosomes • encode information

  3. Gene Therapy • means the insertion into an organism of a normal gene which then corrects a genetic defect • in lower species: Drosophila melanogaster • in humans: hemoglobin abnormalities • bone marrow and skin cells • vectors: Retroviruses, Adenoviruses, Adeno-associated viruses, Herpes simplex viruses

  4. Genetic Testing or Natural Children ?? genetic testing can change lives completely Happy married couple Natural child, but with diseases Happy Pregnant mother without genetic testing It can treat diseases Tay-Sachs, diabetes, breast cancer & even obesity

  5. Genetic Testing or Natural Children ?? People want too much perfection and became to be able to design their perfect children. Genetic testing Happy married couple babies design can we ours

  6. To be up to date they have to read news about treatments used in genetics or PEOPLE: poor/uninformed & Rich THEY need to be Well-informed !!

  7. Who will have access to this expensive technology—people in rich, developed countries or people in poorer??? IF The researches show that the third part of the population is living in conditions of poverty

  8. In addition to genetic testing, which detects diseases, scientists are being to develop therapies to treat diseases that have a genetic origin Hair implants, Crystalline implants, Treatment of different organs, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cancer, Leukemia But they can have numerous side effects: obesity, partial paralysis, death

  9. It is difficult to solve the problems concerning this topic: • science is trying to find the best ways to make therapies like these • because • not every part of the world is well-informed, • people exaggerate with the technology, • doctors can introduce faulty genes • The attitude of people will change in the future, • information spread all around the world • & • scientists try to find out all the benefits of these new therapie Conclusions
