  3. Summer School Scholarship • We would like to help assist you with some of your Summer School fees through our school’s scholarship program. We will be hosting a summer car wash Saturday June 12th. This will help raise money for the summer school program. Each pre-sale ticket you sell will go directly to your son/daughter or to help other families for the summer school program. Pre-Sale tickets can be picked up in the office from administration. • Pre-Sale Tickets are $5.00 each • Please Help Support Your School!! • Summer School: Session 1 June 7th – 24th Session 2: July 6th – 22nd

Summer School Give Your Child the Summer School Advantage!!! • Summer School will be held Monday through Thursday 9:00am to 3:00pm • 1st session June 7th – 24th 2nd session July 6th – 22nd • Locations, Champion Schools South Mountain Campus at 449 E. Southern, Phx 85040 • Cost:$40 per week for the 1st child & $20 each addition child in the same family.

Enrollment will be on a First Come, First Serve, Basis!! • We’re Reducing OUR Class SIZES!! • The Number of Students admitted to the School will Reduce. • Students who have all Mandatory paperwork completed and turned in will be placed in classes FIRST. Once the class has reached its cap the class will be closed. • We will have Multi-Sibling Priority however, ALL Mandatory paperwork MUST be turned in for EACH child before the students get a place in the class.

New School Schedule for 2010-2011 • First Day of School Monday August 2nd. • All Classes will Start at 8:00am Sharp on both Campuses!! • All Classes will dismiss at 3:30pm Monday- Thursday • We Will be Returning back to Half-Day Friday’s • Friday’s will be reserved for Testing in all Classes!!

  9. Middle School Schedule 6th-8th • Middle school has been reduced to 6th grade through 8th grade. One class per Grade • Middle school (6th -8th ) will be the only classes rotating from class to class. • They will rotate through FOUR, 1 ½ hour classes Monday – Thursday • Friday will be 1 hour classes for Testing

Long Classes =Deeper Lessons Taught • By extending the class periods teachers will have more flexibility to teach to the lesson. • Each class will focus on two subjects, teachers will have two 45 min sessions for their lessons. • However, the teachers will have the ability to extend any given lesson they feel the class may need more time on. • This will allow the students to get a stronger grasp on lessons before the teacher moves on.

  14. 5th Grade Class Schedule • We will have two 5th Grade Classes. They will be self- contained classes. • 5th Grade will no longer rotate with the Middle School, They will be considered “Middle School” but they will be in separate classes. • The 5th grade teacher will switch classes for lessons, to prepare the 5th grade students for middle school.

Academic Eligibility • All Students Must maintain a “C” Average in all classes to remain eligible to participate in sports teams & any school activity. • Students who fall below a “C” Average will be required to attend Mandatory Saturday School & Attend Homework Club everyday until their grade is raised up.

  17. Academics New Grading Requirement • Any student who receives more than one “F” Grade in Any Term or Class, will not be Recommended for Promotion to the next Grade.

  18. Academics Showcase • Teachers will host an Academic event every month during the school year. This showcase will be an event where parents will be able to come to campus and see the students academic success. Ex: Book Fair, Science Fair, Social Studies Fair , Short Plays, Poetry Slam, etc. • We will Honor our “Honor Roll Students” each Grading Term.

Report Card Dates, Oct. 29th, Feb. 25th, May 20th • We will issue 6 progress reports throughout the year. • Progress report dates, Aug. 27th, Sept. 24th, Nov. 24th, Jan. 28th, Mar. 25th, Apr. 29th

  21. Sports Requirements • Mandatory School Sports for All Students (JV or Varsity Teams ) • K- 4th Grade is REQUIRED to participate in 1 sport within the three sport seasons we offer. ( Football, Soccer, Kickball, Girls on the Run) • 5th – 8th Grade is REQUIRED to participate in 2 sport teams JV or Varsity within the three sport seasons (Football, Basketball, Cheer, Girls on the Run, Track, Volleyball, Soccer, Kickball, Softball)

Sports Requirements • Students who quit a Varsity team will not be allowed to compete on the Varsity teams for the remainder of the Year!! • Due to the cost of sports uniforms & equipment, we will not be issuing ANY Sports refunds on the sport teams. • All fees will be collected before student-athletes can participate in practices.

  23. Stingers Sports Teams Varsity Junior Varsity JV teams compete in our own school league. It’s grades K-8th JV teams are being taught the basics of each sport, preparing them for the varsity teams. JV teams may compete in outside leagues depending on the sport seasons. JV will practice at least twice a week, with games on Saturday. • Varsity teams compete in our Charter School league. It’s only 5th- 8th grade. • Varsity Teams are Extremely Competitive. • Varsity teams have a more rigorous schedule of practices and games. • They will practice at least 3-4 times a week. • May play games on the weekends depending on the sport season.

  24. Sports Scholarships • In addition, we will have a sports scholarship program to help families pay for sporting teams. It will require the families to make a commitment & work with the school fundraising program. (Example: bake sale, car wash tickets, etc.)

  25. Parents Get InvolvedHelp Your School • Parents who want to volunteer in the classroom and on field trips will have to sign a code of conduct contract.

Stingers Booster Club • We are starting a Stingers Booster Club, it will be comprised of student-athletes parents. • The goal is to help fundraisers for the school & athletic department. • In addition, the Stinger Booster Club will help plan events and volunteer. • Starting the Booster Club will allow us to give additional support to the school which will benefit all students at Champion Schools.

  27. Tax Credit & Activity Fees • We are looking to increase our Tax Credit for the 2010- 2011 School Year. We are Urging parents to get involved and Help out the Schools ,Yourself, and the Students!! • You, friends & family can donate/spend up to $250-$400.00 that you will be able to deduct from any Arizona State Tax you may owe.

Dress For Success • STUDENT UNIFORM POLICY • Champion Schools believes it is beneficial to create a uniform policy that will assist in creating a successful environment for Student-Athletes learning at Champion Schools. • Studies show schools with uniforms eliminate over 25% of school disputes(fighting, stealing, inappropriate contact) • Uniforms help raise academic scores over 30% for all students. Students are able to come to school and focus on their academics, rather then focusing on what their peers are wearing.

  30. Dress for Success • Uniform Tops • Girls and Boys MUST WEAR one of the school issued shirts. Shirts can be purchased throughout the summer and at registration. • The school shirt colors are red, yellow, grey, blue, black. • Only white short sleeve undershirts will be allowed. During the winter, white long sleeve shirts will be allowed.

  32. Dress For Success Boys & Girls Girls Skirts, Skorts, Capri’s The ONLY APPROVED COLORS are navy blue and khaki. Uniform skirts must be worn with shorts underneath. Shorts, Skirts may not be more than 4” above the knee. Capri’s may have no more than 2-4 pockets, plain and only school approved colors. Leggings will not be allowed. • Shorts and Pants for boys and girls • • The ONLY APPROVED COLORS are navy blue and khaki. No cargo style shorts or pants. • • SHORTS AND PANTS for 3rd –8th graders will have belt loops and must be worn with a belt. Forshorts and pants for K – 2nd graders belts areoptional.

  33. Dress For Success Additional Dress Code Footwear Closed toe shoes are required at all times. Shoes must be a matching pair. No shoes or sandals with open backs due to safety concerns. “Heelies,” Aren’t allowed No Flip Flops or Sandals, or Slippers • All clothes will be: • clean and neat • the appropriate size (not skin tight or too large). • no rips or writing on clothing • Jackets/ Coats/ Sweaters/ Sweatshirts will be: • Restricted to school appropriate designs that are not vulgar, violent, obscene, or gang related

Dress For Success UNIFORM POLICY VIOLATIONS • All uniform policy violations will result in consequences associated with Champion Schools’ student code of conduct. • Grades K-8 consequences will be assigned at the discretion of the staff and Administration. Depending on the severity. Students will not be allowed to return to the classroom until in compliance with the dress code.

Dress For Success • Dress Down Day :We will have school fundraisers throughout the year where students can pay to dress down for the Day. • Spirit weeks: We will still have spirit weeks at school. Students can dress according to spirit week or wear school uniform during these weeks. • Field Trips: students will have an assigned uniform by the teacher.

New School RuleNO CELL PHONES • NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED AT SCHOOL • We have had too many issues of CHEATING, INAPPROPRIATE TEXTING, STEALING of CELL PHONES at SCHOOL. • Students Have not Shown the Responsibility to KEEP their CELL PHONES POWERED OFF DURING SCHOOL HOURS!! • THIS LEAVES US NO CHOICE BUT NOT TO ALLOW THEM ON CAMPUS • STUDENTS CAUGHT WITH A CELL PHONE WILL HAVE THEM CONFISCATED and will be Subjected to Dismissal !!

New School Rules • No GUM Allowed • No Hats or Hoodies allowed on in the Classroom or Building. • Jewelry/ Piercings will be: kept to a minimum. • Piercing of any body parts other than the ear is prohibited. • Include only appropriate neckwear, bracelets, and sweatbands. • No excessive number of wristbands, bracelets, or anklets. • Staff and Administration reserve the right to declare what is interfering with the educational process or present a safety hazard.

  39. New School Rules Discipline • Any student or Parent unwilling to follow the New rules will be Subject to Dismissal (Expulsion Hearing).
