Introduction • Replacement for Temperature Satellite project in 2005 • Grants from Ohio Space Grant Consortium and National Science Foundation • Idea is to build “package” that will carry electrical equipment to 100,000 ft, drop, freefall for 35-40,000 ft, then deploy parachute • Past problems include unsuccessful parachute deployment

Introduction • Because of the altitude involved, we are at the mercy of the elements at high altitude • Flight prediction software is extremely important to a successful launch • Ultimate goal of the team is to find a design that will significantly increase the likelihood of a successful launch and recovery • New parachute release mechanism • New ballute design • Eliminate parachute altogether?
