  2. Act n. 379 from the 5th of December 2007 dealing with the residence permits of third-country nationals in the Czech Republic • Came into force on the 21st of December 2007

  3. Important changes made by the Act n.379 regarding third-country researchers and their family members coming to the Czech Rep. for the purpose of scientific research

  4. Long-term residence permit for the purpose of scientific research (no more visas for a stay longer than 90 days) - can apply already in the country of origin

  5. Hosting agreement with a research organisation properly registered in the catalogue of research organizations (main body: Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports)

  6. Family members of researchers can also apply directly for a long-term residence permit in their country of origin

  7. The time-limit of visa processing for researchers and their family members should be 60 days from the day the application has been submitted

  8. Visa for a stay for more than 90 days time-limit: 60 days • Long-term residence permit time-limit: 60 days • Reunification with family members (researcher) time-limit: 220 days

Contribution of the Czech Services Centre 2/3 • Meeting held with the Director of the Alien Police Department, Head of the ASCR and a representative of the CSC (June 2008) Result: contact person at the Alien Police (Head of the Department dealing with third-country nationals) = preferential access

  12. Contribution of the Czech Services Centre 3/3 • Registration (3 days from arrival) • Address change (up to 30 days) • Extension of the residence permit (collective submission, no queues) • Information available on the Czech Portal
