  6. How it works • A fuel cell is a device that converts the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity. The chemical reaction which generates electricity is a combination of oxygen and hydrogen (fuel)

  7. Hydrogen is channelled to the anode

  8. While oxygen is channelled to the cathode

  9. Anode and cathode are separated by electrolyte membrane

  11. The Hydrogen is split into positive Hydrogen ions /(protons) and negatively charged electrons

  12. The membrane allows the positively charged ions to move to the cathode

  13. Electrical current is created by the movement of the electrons towards the cathode via an external circuit

  14. Waste product Water either as vapour or liquid or both

  15. Fuel cell stack • A fuel cell produces 0,86 volts so we need several fuel cells which are connected together in a Fuel cell stack

  17. Disadvantages • Difficulties in the production, transportation distribution and storage of Hydrogen • Fuel cells are very expensive to produce • Most of them are hand-made
