IB ART YEAR 1 EXAM PROJECT “Unusual Canvas”
Project Idea • You will choose an object to use as a canvas. • There must be a link between your object and what you choose to paint onto it. • Use the object’s shape or purpose to inspire an idea for the image.
Tasks • Step 1: Select one of the following artists • Step 2: Research the artist. Respond to the information you find. Critique at least one of their pieces. • Name • Place • Dates • Training • Ideas • Methods • etc
Tasks • Step 3: Brainstorm possible objects and ideas. • Step 4: Find and bring the selected object. • Step 5: Complete at least 3 thumbnail sketches.
Tasks • Step 6: Complete any other development you feel necessary for greatest success: • topic research, source imagery, material studies, colour mixing samples, more detailed sketch, etc • Step 7: Create your image • Step 8: Reflect throughout (take photos along the way) and at the end of the process
