  1. Station 1 • Take two beakers and fill them both with 100ml of water. • Go get salt from Coach Lee and put it in one of the beakers. • Go get a spinach leave from Coach Lee. • Tear the bottom of the leaf and place it the beaker with salt. Move on to the next station. In 10 minutes you will need to come back to this station. • Take the leaf out and observe it, then place it into the other beaker. Move on to the next station and return in 10 minutes.

  2. Station 1 Questions • Which beaker made the leave wilt and which one kept standing up high? • Draw a diagram of both leaves, include the vacuoles for both leaf cells after they were soaked in the solutions. • Explain what happened to both plants turgor pressures.

  3. Station 2 • Build a paper frame. Take a sheet of paper cut it in half and create a see through box. • Go to Coach Lee and get a balloon go back to your group and blow some air inside it. Put the balloon inside the paper frame. Keep adding air to the balloon a little at a time and observe the shape of the paper frame. • Answer the questions:

  4. Station 2 Questions • Explain how the shape of the paper frame changes with the changing of the amount of air inside the balloon. • Draw at least three diagrams to show those changes. (not enough, good amount, too much) • What does the paper frame represent? • What does the balloon represent? • What does the air inside the balloon represent? • Write two limitations of this model.

  5. Station • B. B. Explain the similarities and differences picture A, B, and turgor pressure.

  6. Station 4 Write each statement and fill in the blanks. • I transport water up through the roots to the rest of the plant. What am I? _____________ • Wilting in a plant means it has a ________ of _________ ________. • I transport nutrients throughout the entire plant. What am I? _____________ • Photosynthesis occurs in me and a green pigment. What am I? ___________ • I hold the water to give the cell the ability to stand up right. What am I? ________. • The three reactants for photosynthesis to occur are _________, _________, & _______. • The loss of turgor pressure in a plant results in ________. • The two products as a result of photosynthesis are _________ & _______. • This is bigger in the plant cell than in the animal cell _______. • The organelle that holds the chlorophyll is the _______________.

  7. Station 5 • Define turgor pressure. • Define wilting • Explain what happen to plants when they lose water. Draw a diagram. • Explain what happen to the plants when they gain water. Draw a diagram.

  8. Station 6 • www.brainpop.com • Click on the link above • User name curtismiddle • Password cougars • Search for plant pollination • Watch the two minute video, click on the Q&A link and answer 5 questions.
