  3. Dear friends of the future, Now, in 2011, the Earth suffers, it suffers from pollutions and dryness because we rely too much on her. We lack water : it becomes polluted and rare. It is not accessible to everyone.          In the last years, in the last centuries, people (the grandparents of our grandparents) didn’t care about water. They weren't worried about water but they didn’t use it as much as we do today, and they were not as numerous as we are.          Nowadays, most of us do know that we all must pay attention to water but we don’t act enough to save and protect it. Sometimes, we unfortunately forget that water is a precious liquid that we are obliged to share with everyone on Earth. Letter to the next generation

  4. Water is everywhere like air but it doesn’t mean that it is eternal : every spring, flowers cover the land but, when autumn comes, flowers have vanished. Hey, folks, what does water look like now ? We hope that we have done our best to keep water as clean and reachable by anyone as we possibly could. We hope that you will do everything possible to preserve water, this precious liquid that only planet Earth has the recipe. Your old friends from the past.

  5. Charter by water-concerned citizens • Introduction • Part 1: Reduce • Part 2: Re-use and recycle

  6. INTRODUCTION • Water is life. It is very important and vital because we need it all the time to survive and we need it in everything ( food, furniture, clothes…). • However, water is unequally distributed: in certain countries, there is too much water ( flood…) whereas in other countries, there isn’t enough (drought….). • Water issue can create conflicts, health problems and inequality. • So, it’s high time to react! Water is a human right and it our duty to preserve it.

  7. REDUCE In the first time, I promise to use water only when it is really necessary.- In the bathroom, We have to prefer showers to baths. More than that, when we wash ourselves and we use soap, we should turn off the tap.Following the same idea, when we wash our teeth, we can do the same. For example, when we go to the loo, we can use just the water we really need too.

  8. - In the kitchen • When we have to clean vegetables, the better way is to use just one bowl and to clean all the vegetables together. • We have to use the dishwasher instead of doing it ourselves. • We have no right to waste water, so while waiting for the water to become warm, we should put a bowl under the tap. • To clean the floor, we have to use less water and to use more our arms.

  9. - Other good habits: • We promise to wash our future cars in the station instead of doing it at home. • We promise to use less water when we play with it (with water guns, for example). • - Consumption: • • We should be careful to what we buy: For example, • we should buy bulk vegetables instead of packed • vegetables.( You need a lot of water to make plastic packages.) • •We should choose products which need less water • to be produced.

  10. • I promise I will use ecologic bags, made from potatoes or corn because they’re biodegradable. Indeed, regular plastic bags pollute water and require more water to be made. •We should try to avoid water- consuming plants or products which travel from one continent to another because everyone has the right to take advantage of his own ressources.

  11. RE-USE and RECYCLE In a second time, we can recycle water. I promise I will re - use water as often as possible. • For instance, when we have to water plants in the garden, we should use the rain water we have collected before. • We can collect rain water to wash our cars too. • In the kitchen, we can use water to clean all the vegetables together in a bowl and re-use the water to water the plants or clean the sink.
