  2. High School Students • Being a part of UConn Early College Experience (ECE) is being a part of the University of Connecticut. By taking UConn ECE courses, you have officially started your college career and have gained time and flexibility to explore a variety of options in the upcoming years. • You benefit by taking college courses in a familiar setting with an instructor you know. You also earn college credit for a fraction of the cost it would be had you taken the course on a UConn campus.

  3. Registration • Students register to participate in UConn Early College Experience through their high schools. A student interested in taking a UConn course through UConn Early College Experience should first speak with the course instructor and his/her school counselor to determine if the course is at a suitable level and that necessary course prerequisites have been met. Each partner high school establishes appropriate admissions criteria for their UConn ECE program and has the authority to set this standard on behalf of the University. • A student registration form must be received by a specific deadline and contain parent and school counselor signatures in order for a student to be registered successfully. Student registration forms are collected by each high school and should not be sent individually by the student. Students will be registering directly online this year and will scan the signed application.

  4. Student Add/Drop Period • Students have the ability to add or drop a course from September 1–15. An Add/Drop Form must be returned to the high school by September 15, in order to successfully add or drop a UConn course through UConn Early College Experience. • If you drop an ECE class after the Add/Drop period you will still be required to pay the class fee. - $25

  5. Course Recognition • The majority of students who have taken University of Connecticut courses through UConn Early College Experience have successfully transferred their UConn credits to the college/universities of their choice. UConn ECE students are considered non-degree students at the University of Connecticut and have an official University transcript indicating their coursework. • Students do not need to attend the University of Connecticut to have their courses recognized. While the University of Connecticut cannot guarantee course recognition on behalf of another University, it strives to make the transfer of credits from one institution to another as simple as possible. • Students must receive a grade of C or above in any UConn ECE course to receive course credit. Any grade below a C will automatically transfer to an audit on a student transcript. Students do not receive credit for audited courses.

  6. Courses • UConn Early College Experience offers 50 + courses in more than 20 disciplines. The curriculum is designed to offer a variety of general education courses that appeal to a diverse group of students. • These challenging courses allow students to preview college work, build confidence in their readiness for college, and earn college credits that provide both an academic and a financial head-start on a college degree. • Many courses in the UConn ECE catalog meet requirements for numerous college majors and for graduation. Courses taken through UConn Early College Experience are equivalent to the same course offered on a University of Connecticut campus. Students follow the same curriculum and grading rubric that has been designed by the University department.
