Introduction Hello All, My honorable members of the executive, my fellow contestants and my distinguished brothers and sister in the general assembly, i humbly wish to declare my interest in becoming the next President of our dearly beloved NIDO DC Chapter. I have been your Vice president for the past two years, and having come in at a time when NIDO was still coming out of what many may call the dark ages, trying to rebuild fences, mend relationships, redirect energy that was been used to fight perceived injustices by past administrations to a more positive goal, it was a very difficult time as we spent more time dealing with issues that were already there before we came in, we went above and beyond and as one will expect those forces still fighting to get things done differently continued with their quest to achieve whatever plan the had. All of us put in our best, certain things would have been done differently, more people would have been given more responsibilities, most of us in the executive position would have done more, we had other personal things, trials and inconveniences all through our time to deal with but we remained steadfast. My people, most of us were new into the system, we came in with fair minds, we wanted to do things right and do more as we hoped, but to our surprise our expectations to what we can do and what we cannot do were cut short due to the limitations in the bye-laws which as of that time we interpreted differently hence the negativity in our mailing system, lack of communication and right part to follow in conflict resolution. We have gone through rough times, we noticed lapses and short comings as we gently travelled down this journey together to accomplish all we did in the past two years, we all acquired the required experience and got grounded in the ins and outs of this great organization. I don't wish to waste your time discussing our past, i am here to offer a different part to a better future for our organization, with a better structured network where anyone elected to serve does serve and have a lot to contribute to the daily running of our organization. These are ;-

Quest • 1) Our Vice president to work closely with the board to establish a conflict resolution committee to handle any conflicts in our chapter, so that we will never again see any fighting in the media, email etc., to be in charge of all disciplinary, conflict, event overseeing, financial sourcing for events been carried out by our chapter • 2) Our Secretary to be the head of the executives, to organize and moderate bi-weekly or monthly as we agree, executive meetings, emergency meetings to discuss happenings in our chapter or national and to come up with an agreed point or agenda to present so that no one is left out in the loop of things, all these also will be communicated to the general assembly as needed for information dissemination. To also coordinate all committees as the will report to this office all events planning, administrative inputs etc. • 3) Utilize everyone’s specialization in the real world to manage and carry out well organized programs in the chapter, partner with schools, hospitals, churches and agencies to carry out events directed to our communities and the good people of USA. • 4) To immediately generate a calendar of events for the 2013/2014 calendar years, so as to generate a budget for our activities and start contacting our sponsors as early as possible so as to be included in their budget as the generate these for their yearly expenses. • 5) To immediately create standing committees, to be co-chaired by an executive member and given the mandate to generate programs for the year, budget and a workable plan to achieve at least one solid event for the year 2013 and beyond.

Quest • 6) To immediately mandate all our new executives to come up with a plan to increase our membership by 50% before December 2013, carry out family friendly activities that would bring more people to our meetings, encourage church leaders by volunteering to help in there respective events so as to make NIDO a household name, also to volunteer to our various traditional, cultural, ethnic and social organizations to participate in there events and encourage there members to participate in our own events so as to build a bond and solidify on cooperative agreements with these organizations to boost event attendance, greater reach in carrying out communications as needed in holding successful events and programs. • 7) Promote comradeship among members, encourage members to attend events planned by other members, e.g. church events, family events, social events and cultural events to continue building a stronger bond amongst members. • 8) As much as we all are thinking of how we can make NIDO a better organization, i will personally device a plan to make NIDO more beneficial to us in all spheres e.g. educationally, socially, politically, personally and financially. • 9) To make sure that whatever problems, plan and prospects we have in our chapter, remains a chapter affair and if need be to communicate with our regional director to mediate when needed and to further do anything as required by the bye-law in seeing that we solve this issues within as we can. • 10) Finally, I will promote transparency through out my time, our treasurer/financial Secretary will at every meeting give a financial report with a print out of our account statement for that current period and explain to the floor what came in, what was used, any discrepancies with the last report will be explained fully.

Conclusion I know to some people, your question will be why wasn't all these enforced, was it that it will not be achievable or is this too ambitious? as i rightly pointed out in the beginning of my write up, we had many obstacles and most of them have been eliminated, this is a period of continuity, to be sure that we don't go back fighting those fights already won, but to dedicate our energy and time in putting our organization on the map, to solidly enshrine due process, right policies, cooperative administration as the bed rock of our chapter so as to put this chapter where it should be and will be in the scheme of things as the chapter that defines the way and others will follow. I humbly ask for your support on our next election, so as to help me and the new executives achieve all these for the sake of our Chapter.
