Multiplication This is the style of multiplication we learned from working with arrays, it may be a little different than how some of our parents learned it. I will also be teaching them the more traditional style (standard algorithm) and then will let the student use the style they are more comfortable or successful with.
Step 1 63x28 24 • Think 8 times 3 is 24.
Step 2 Think: 8 X 60 = 480 Remember 8 X 6 = 48 then put the zero back on. 63x28 24 480
Step 3 63 X28 24 480 60 • Think 20 X 3 =60 • Remember 2 x 3 = 6 and then put the zero back on.
Step 4 63 X28 24 480 60 1200 Think 20 x 60 = 1200 Remember 2x6=12, then pot the two zeros back on.
Step 5 63 X28 24 480 60 +1200 1764 Add up the column. Don’t forget to carry the one.
