  2. British Food • Mealtimes : - changed/ ridiculed - different from Europe/no long breaks/meal at midday/off work 5:30 - Sundays/ family day/ Sunday lunch/ typical British food - confusion about meal name a. (dinner, supper, tea, high tea, brunch…) b. part of country/ social class

Breakfast - much bigger/ fried or simple/ porridge ‘Scotland’ • Lunch - 12:30-1:30/ packed lunch/ canteens at schools/ cafe • Dinner - 6:30-8:30/ taste changing/ typical dinner: meat & two veg/ potato • Afternoon Tea - 4 p.m./ tea and scones (cream tea)/ afternoon tea (sandwiches) • High Tea - 6 p.m./ early evening/ sweet foods/ savories/ now replaced with supper

  4. Tea with milk & sugar • Typical English food: (fish & chips/ Bangers and mash/ Yorkshire pudding/bread and butter/ Shepherd’s pie/ haggis/ Black pudding/pie)
