English 10- 9/24/12 • MAPS Testing in MS Lab 1st , 2nd and 7th periods. • What do you think the clothing you are wearing could say about you? • What does Mr. Buffalo say to Buffalo Jr. as he leaves for work? • Sharpshooter – Current legal slang for a lawyer that aimes at loop-holes. Goals – Do your best on the test to help me learn more about your reading skills. Homework – none. Don’t forget to study for Vocabulary #5 on Friday.

English 10- 9/25/12 • What do you think the clothing you are wearing could say about you? • What do you call a row of bunnies walking backwards? • Tmesis – the separation of a compound word by an intervening word; e.g. “un-stinking-believable.” Goals – Understand the assignment and how it will be evaluated. Work on transitions and analysis of stories. Homework – Revise Personal Essay D4 save as Personal Essay D5. Include transisitons and improved senttences.

  3. English 10- 9/26/12 • What is so hard about doing peer reviews and revising? Does it help or not? Why? • Did you hear about the blue silkworm and the red silkworm that had a race? Do you know which of them won? • Tacenda – those things which should not be mentioned. Goals – Check for “its/it’s” and pronoun/antecedent agreement. Learn how to do peer reviews and use the peer review sheet. Homework – Make some peer suggested revisions to your paper. Save as D6.

In the world? • How many Microsoft programmers does it take to change a light bulb? • Tapinosis – use of degrading diction when talking to someone. Goals – Learn how peer reviews work. Use the peer review sheet. Homework – Make final revisions save as personal essay D7. Change title? Word count? Turn in tomorrow before vocab. 5.

  5. English 10 - 10/28/12 • Five minutes to review for the vocabulary 5 quiz. Turn in papers now! • Ethernet: what you use to catch the Ether Bunny • Rumbelow – a combination of meaningless syllables; e.g. “yo, ho, ho!” Goals – Complete Week 5 vocabulary study. Poem of the week. Homework – none.
