  1. English 10- 9/9/13 • What do you think is the value of public education? Or is there a better way for you to be spending your time? • Why do bees have sticky hair? • OAO – One and Only. Used in the naval Academy to refer to one’s sweetheart. Goals – Review funny metaphor sentences from last Thursday. Discussion of mental cowards article. Analysis of value of education article. Homework – Write a well thought out commentary on how mental cowardess might affect your education.

  2. English 10 - 9/10/13 • What habits of mind do you have that help you be successful in school? Which ones get in the way of your success? • How do you confuse an English teacher? • Skootch – a family word for someone that thinks being annoying is funny. Goals –Discuss how the articles we have been reading will affect the goals of this class. Analyze the “Perils and Promise” article. Homework – Don’t forget to study for Vocab 2 on Friday. Complete a well thought out commentary about how you perceive your own habits of mind.

What is your strategy for starting writing tasks? • How do you give an English teacher a brain transplant? • Snack pockets – a family word for side fat, “love handles.” Goals – Discuss “Perils and Promise…”. Spice up your writing with descriptive detail and figurative language. Homework – Write an extended descriptive passage about a guy with too much swag or a “selfie.”

  4. English 10- 9/12/13 • What is more important, kindness or fairness? • Why do English teachers have TGIF on their shoes? • Nephrotyte – a family word for someone who looks good but does nothing. Goals – Learn a little about appositives and how to use them. Practice writing appositives. Homework – Complete the appositive writing excercise. Quiz Tomorrow 9/14.

  5. English 10- 9/13/13 • Five minutes to review for the Vocab. 2 quiz. • Why did the English teacher get fired from the M&M factory? • Mizzled – a family word for being misled in to the extreme. Goals – Successfully complete vocab. 2 study. Analyze and write a response to a poem Homework – None.
