  2. BUDGET ANNOUNCEMENT “Adequate availability of fodder is essential for sustained production of milk. It is necessary to accelerate the production of fodder through intensive promotion of technologies to ensure its availability throughout the year. I propose to provide Rs.300 crorefor Accelerated Fodder Development Programme which will benefit farmers in 25,000 villages.”- Hon’ble FM in his Budget Speech: 2011-2012

  3. Strategies • Development of Quality Seeds • Enhancing Production of Fodder • Adoption of appropriate technologies for Post Harvest Management

  4. Coverage • 10.2 lakh ha in 12 states • AP, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, MP, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, UP. • Rs. 300 Crore in FY 2011-12

  5. Approach • Clusters – 500ha Fodder Area • Dual Purpose Crops • Promoting low cost farmer centric Mechanization • Research on Location specific Seeds • 100% support to beneficiaries/institutions • Proposals to be sanctioned by SLSC (RKVY)
