  3. Math experiences • Two-three year olds: • Understand the concept of numbers 1-3 • Can count to 5 • Think that a cracker broken up into two pieces is more food • Understand the order in the day • Can sort into hard vs. soft, large vs. small, heavy vs. light

  4. Three-four year olds: Understands #’s 1-4 Can count to 10 Some understand what first and last means Trade several small candies for a large one Can do puzzles

  5. Four-five year olds Can draw to represent #’s Can determine sums up to five (4+1,3+2) Can do 10 piece puzzles

  6. How to aide in math development Color concepts: Charts of different things Flannel boards Calendars I-Spy “Everyone with a red shirt….”

  11. Set a goal I want you all to write a goal for Tiny Tigers tomorrow. I want you to describe TWO ways that you will help a Tiny Tiger develop their math skills. I want you to think of the ages of the Tiny Tigers and make sure that the way that you help them is appropriate to their age group.
