  3. Why study science? • Enhances curiosity • Helps them pick out similarities and differences • Fine motor and hand eye coordination

  4. Planning Science activities • Observe • Note similarities/differences • Make predictions • Listen to sounds • Can be unplanned • Smaller or bigger, looking at a flower

  5. How to you enhance science experiments as a teacher?

  6. Open ended questions • What is an open ended question?

  7. Open ended questions • There is no right answer • Promote discussion and require decision making skills • What are you looking at? • What are you making with those blocks?

  8. Scenario • Will is over at the water table, he keeps moving water back and forth and back and forth. Then he starts to wash off all of the toys in the water table • What are some open ended questions that you could ask him?

  9. Close ended questions • What is a a close ended question?

  10. Close ended question • Sometimes called single answer question • Demands few decision making skills • Often answered with a yes or no

  11. Closed ended questions • Alice is coloring at the coloring table. She is using a variety of colors. What are some close ended questions that you could ask her?

Tasks for tomorrow • Go over partners • First we are going to paint flower pots • When they are done, take your partner, some cup cake flowers • THEN we will plant the seeds in order to allow time for drying. • Then snack will be gram crackers • IF your child is not here, YOU will prepare snack • When story time is going on who wants to help set up the art project?
