  1. Audacity AuditionsStep by Step Instructions

  2. Download Audacity Available free for Windows or Mac OSX at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

  3. You need not feel overwhelmed, if you are not used to the program. Follow the slides one at a time. These steps have been tested to produce a CD without having to understand the workings of the entire Audacity program.

  4. After downloading ‘Audacity’, click on it and drag to your desktop to for easy access.

  5. When you click to open it, this is the screen that will appear.

  6. Click on the red record button tostartrecording.

  7. After a 1 second delay, you will see the voice levels progressing across the screen.

  8. Tap theSpace bar to stop recording. (Easier than using the “stop” icon).

  9. Click on the Space bar again toplayback. It will start over at the beginning.

  10. Click File/Export to save recording.

  11. Give the file a name. Save the file to desktop (or wherever you like).

  12. This menu will pop up after you click ‘save’. You may (don’t have to) add additional info. If not adding information, click “OK.”

  13. Minimize or hand swipe the screen and locate your file on your desktop Drag it into iTunes. It will play back as soon as it gets there.

  14. In iTunes, click on + to create new playlist.

  15. Give your playlist a title (All State auditions).

  16. Click on music to locate your track(s). Drag track into playlist.

  17. Click on the playlistto view tracks and burn CD.

  18. Message will prompt you to insert blank CD.

  19. Try CD in several players!
