  4. B: Collection of Information/Resources A variety of sources are required! Try for about 5: These can include • Interviews • websites • books • magazines • Make sure all of sources are not the same type.

  5. D: Analysis of Information??? • Expression personal thoughts with depth of understanding and reflection • Explain/analyze/reflect your struggles, vision, ideas • A truly personal reflection that shows understanding of : • 1.yourself • 2.the process

  6. E: Organization of the Written Work • MLA= 12-pt font , Times New Roman, double spaced, 1-inch margins, indented margins • Grammar • Appropriate academic language=Register • PPPP specifics

  7. F: Analysis of Process & Outcomes • 1. Analysis of the processes of the Project and • 2. outcomes of your project (good and bad) • Intelligently and reflectively analyze yourself and the final result/product

  8. The Process Paper • Length: no more than 4000 words • Requirements • A title page • Table of contents • Introduction • Description of the process • Analysis of the Inspiration • Conclusion • Works Cited • Appendices, where appropriate

  9. Exception to 4000-word rule • The average paper us 8-10 pages long (give or take a few pages depending on your project) • If your wrote a novel or a long report then your process paper can be significantly shorter than others BECAUSE the description of the process will not be as long

Process Paper: Introduction • Introductory remarks related to your project • Brief description of your project • AOI’s you addressed and WHY & HOW • Brief reflection of your successes and/or failures or overall result of project. Do not write: I learned a lot of things about myself and my project.

Process paper: Description of Process • Describe in detail the steps you used. • This will vary because projects are all different. • If project has many steps, organize how you want to format those steps. • Don’t write : The second thing I did was draw a picture of my sculpture. Describe the: methods materials time requirements assistance inspiration frustrations anxieties successes obstacles

  14. Process Paper: Analysis of the Inspiration What motivated you? What frustrated you? What did you learn about your personal strengths? What did you learn about your weaknesses? What did you learn about yourself as a writer/musician/artist/etc? Do not write : I learned I am a procrastinator. Write about why you procrastinated. Was the project boring, too difficult, too easy, etc. How could project been better? Reflect how the AOI’s chosen are applicable and WHY you chose them. Don’t write: One of my AOI’s is human ingenuity because I like to create stuff.

Process Paper: Conclusion Reveal that you really, truly got something out of your topic physically, spiritually, intellectually, creatively Finish with a reflection that best summarizes what you learned about yourself good and/or bad Do not write: I learned a lot about myself on a deep level.

Process Paper: Works Cited Google MLA format and find the OWL at Purdue website. * They have the format for absolutely every type of source you can possibly have. * Include any interviews, websites, books magazines, recordings, films, video games---EVERYTHING you used * If for any reason you can’t find it check with me for the correct formatting.

  18. Process Paper: Appendices These are attachments you place at the end of your paper. • They can be: • Pictures of the process • Samples of materials • Rough drafts of project • Preliminary sketches • Interviews

  20. Other Important Stuff Presentation is important. Make sure project & paper are: Neat Organized Clean

  21. Last thoughts Give project, process paper, &journal to advisor in an organized & self contained manner. MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON EVERYTHING. EXAMPLES: In a gift bag/brown bag with everything inside. Check with your supervisor if size of project prevents this. NO PLASTIC BAGS!!! ( they break, are sloppy, & difficult for us to organize) DON’T WALK IN ON THE DAY IT’S DUE & THROW ALL YOUR STUFF ON YOUR SUPERVISOR’S DESK

  22. Finally thoughts…. Do not bug your supervisor about the grade. yOUR final grade Will be revealed AFTER everything is RECORDED!!!!!!!!! Personal Project is worth 50 points in this class. Due March 3rd !!!
