  2. What is MS ? Multiple Sclerosis is one of the most common diseases of the CNS. Multiple Sclerosis is the loss of myelin and accompanied by the disruption to conduct electrical impulses. The affected area sites appeared to be hardened and scarred. The disease is more like electrical wires being exposed.

  3. Causes of MS • The causes of Multiple Sclerosis is not yet known but many researchers think that it can be an abnormal response of the body’s immune system. • Some researchers think that a virus lying dormant in the body will trigger MS. Such common viruses such as measles or herpes could trigger MS.

  4. Symptoms of MS Balance and coordination problems • Tremor • Loss of balance • Clumsiness of limbs Altered sensation • Numbness • Burning sensations • Pins & needles Visual disturbances • Blurred vision • Double vision • Involuntary raid eye movement cont.

  5. Symptoms of MS Abnormal speech • Slurring of words • Difficulty in swallowing • Slow speech Sexuality & intimacy • Diminished arousal • Loss of sensation • Impotence

  6. Who Gets MS ? Women are more at risk for acquiring Multiple Sclerosis than men. 3 women for every 2 men will get the disease, this is 50% more frequency for women than men. The age factor is within 29-33 years of age and be extremely broad from 10-59 years. An estimated 2,500,000 people in the world have MS. There are 400,000 Americans with MS and 200 are diagnosed every week.
