Enhancing Hepatitis C Treatment with Apollo Device: A SIMUL8 Model Approach
This project utilizes SIMUL8 to model the anticipated benefits of introducing the Apollo device in Hepatitis C treatment. Key variables will be tested, including costs (treatment, staffing, and savings from immediate patient results), patient satisfaction (waiting and treatment times), and resource allocation among clinicians and nurses. The model is informed by data compiled by Anna, enabling personalized insights for different healthcare centers. By localizing the simulation, we aim to demonstrate potential improvements in treatment efficiency and patient care.

Presentation Transcript
Project Introduction • To use SIMUL8 to create a model which shows the expected benefits of the introduction of the Apollo device in the treatment of Hepatitis C.
Variables to Test • Cost • Staffing cost, cost of treatment, savings based on knowing a patients result straight away • Patient Satisfaction • Time waiting for results, time receiving treatment • Staff time • Clinician, Nurse and Administration staff
Data Inputs • The SIMUL8 model is closely linked to the spreadsheet research collated by Anna. • Data is used to feed certain areas of the simulation
Data Inputs Some data has been directly lifted from research provided
Data Inputs • Some data has been converted into a useable format then applied to the model
Data Inputs Some data has been selectively chosen to feed the model
User Variables • Although the model uses data provided by the team it has been built in a generic way • Individual clients can localize flows to match their own. • The simulation will therefore show personalized benefits of the Apollo device
User Variables- Population • Population is driven by geographical area and prevalence Population to test
User Variables- Treatment Received • Users can adapt current treatment expectations and add new treatments
User Variables- Cost • All costs and expected revenues can be localized
User Variables- Resource Allocation • Some treatment centers may have different allocations of staff
