  3. Basic Unit Equivalencies Distances • 12 inches = 1 foot • 3 feet = 1 yard • 5280 feet = 1 mile

  8. Basic Idea Behind Converting Multiplying by 1 does not change a number. We just need to pick the right form of the number 1 to multiply by.
