  1. EAES 410 January 31st

  2. Assignment #1 Feedback • Class average was 79% • In assessment the university considers the 70’s an average mark. • Great job overall! • Some really great packages. • Hopefully my comments are helpful. I have had a long administrative experience and know what others are looking for.

  3. Letter of Application • This was what I gave you: • Opening statement clearly states what position you are applying for. Then state what is included in this application. i.e. philosophy, resume, portfolio, etc. • Informational paragraph describes something about you that you really want the reader to know. You can include why you are applying. • Closing presentation leaves the lasting impression and thanks the person for the consideration of your application *I think the resume workshop conflicted some of this information so some of you chose that format but I was looking for this one. The closing in particular needs to ‘grab’ the reader. *Don’t make the letter too long.

  4. Resume • Overall really well done! • Don’t undersell yourself in the ‘skills’ area • Be sure you have enough in your resume to demonstrate that you have lots to offer • Be careful of ‘tenses’ in your wording • Do not choose words in your resume that sound informal

  5. Philosophy • Length was tricky – not too long, not too short • Don’t confuse reflections with philosophy as these are different. Leave past experiences and reflections out. While you may really want to tell ‘your story’, an interview is more the place for this. • Be careful not to make too general statements. You want your ideas to sound unique and so wording is very important.

  6. What impressed me? • We have a lot of people who have had extensive experiences and backgrounds. • Many of you have received some wonderful awards and scholarships. • Internship highlights are great to read. Make sure you say lots about these. • The overall philosophies had some amazing ideals in them.
