  1. GE 4D Ultrasound“When you see your baby for the first time… On the new GE 4D Ultrasound… It’s a miracle” By Pearl Martinez

  2. Table of Contents • Ultrasound: Then & Now • 3D images • 4D images • Ge Voluson 740 4D Ultrasound • Advantages of 4D Ultrasound • More Advantages • Are there any risks? • Other applications for 4D Ultrasound • Pictures • References

  3. Ultrasound: Then & now • Though available since the 1960s, ultrasound was not widely accepted until the mid-1970s.

  4. 3D images • To create 3D images, an ultrasound system determines the volume of a subject - for example, a baby. The system then reconstructs the image in three dimensions.

  5. 4D images • As for 4D Ultrasound, only the Voluson 730 can gather 3D volumes and instantly reconstruct them into moving images. Gives live Action images of your unborn child or of any internal anatomy.

  6. GE voluson 730 4D Ultrasound • GE voluson 730 4D Ultrasound designed by Porsche Design

  7. What are the advantages of the 4D technology? • Displaying the entire volume of an object that is being examined makes it possible to analyze the tissue concerned. 4D allows doctors and sonographers to analyze fetal motion and perform exams previously unavailable.

  8. What other advantages of the 4D technology? • Simplified 3D acquisition • Reduce study time, decrease patient waiting times • Faster examination procedure • About 30 to 50 minutes • The C-plane obtained, not possible in 2D • Complete examination through increased perspective from volume data, … better qualitative and quantitative information to diagnose effectively • All planes of view reproducible: virtual patient • Anatomical views not possible with 2D scanning • Simplify orientation for referring physician patient

  9. Are there any risks related to 3D or 4D ultrasound? • There are no riskds, 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image.

  10. Beyond pretty baby pictures, other applications for 4D Ultrasound? • The Voluson 730 is a full-service ultrasound system that can be used for breast imaging, interventional urology and general imaging. Like: • Determining fetal age • Analyzing fetal development • Evaluating multiple and/or high-risk pregnancies • Detecting fetal abnormalities • Detecting structural problem with uterus • Detecting placental abnormalities • Detecting abnormal bleeding • Determining ectopic pregnancy and other abnormalities of pregnancy • Detecting ovarian tumor/fibroids • Locating the placenta
