The State Lands and Environmental Resources Program (SLERP) manages the permitting of land alterations and construction in Florida's natural resources. As part of the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and under the governor's mandate, SLERP oversees the environmental impact of various projects, including residential, commercial, and utility developments. This program requires Environmental Resource Permits (ERPs) and State Lands Authorization for activities on state-owned submerged lands, ensuring compliance with environmental protection laws and regulations to safeguard Florida's ecosystems.
