CHALLENGES • Munics still busy with 2005/06 projects • Houses not available for electrification (Planning) • Late project approvals by municipalities (Council resolutions) • Municipalities commit to projects which do not materialize/get completed in the financial year • Communication between Eskom and municipalities on project execution • Prolonged processes of proclaiming areas

  9. Conclusion • DME/INEP is committed towards service delivery and assisting municipalities to perform • Big potential in regard to skills development and job creation • Municipal assistance in planning, execution critical for success • Quality of supply and network reliability is now an issue
