REGISTER NOW!! • “Understanding Military Deployment” • An Employer Resource Town Hall Meeting • Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at NH Fire Standard & Tng • Concord, NH from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. • Up to 1,200 Soldiers of the New Hampshire Army National Guard will deploy later this year. • In addition, a contingent of Vermont Army Guard Soldiers will also be activated and will deploy in the upcoming months. • Do any of these citizen-soldiers work for you? • Are you prepared for their departure? • How will you get their job done? • Do you know their rights under law? • Do you know yours? • Do their spouses or family members work for you? • How will they be impacted? • Is this your first deployment? • Would you like help preparing for it? • Discover how you, as an employer, can prepare for the upcoming/continuing mobilization of New Hampshire Guard Soldiers, and what you can do to support the brave men and women who serve our country.   4. “Understanding Military Deployment” • An Employer Resource Town Hall Meeting • Learning Objectives • Understand the upcoming deployment of nearly 1,200 New Hampshire Army National Guard Soldiers as well as a number of Vermont Soldiers who will soon deploy. • Understand employer rights and responsibilities under Federal law (USERRA) and recent changes to the FMLA for military families. • Understand supporting resources for employers (US/NH/VT DOL & Voc Rehab). Speakers will discuss areas where they can be supportive resources to employers. Discussion of how to get the work done while the Soldier/employee is away. • Understand the returning Soldier. The speaker will present aspects of the returning Soldier’s mental disposition as a result of serving in a foreign combat zone; the barriers that may be in place, the aspects that an employer should look for, and the actions that will be taken to minimize or assist the Soldier in the reintegration process. • Recognize how to get involved and understand the family support network. The speakers will present an overview of the Family Assistance Program support network available to the Soldier and his/her family. This is also an area where employers and co-workers may become involved and for whom this can be a level of organizational or personal contribution in support of the deployed Soldier and his/her family. • Listen to stories from past participantsto better understand how to prepare and interact through a panel discussion with Soldiers, spouses and employers who will offer insights from the participants regarding their personalized experiences. The group will answer questions from employers for whom this may be their first deployment.
