Who was he? • David (Davy) Crockett was frontiersman and a politician. • He was a frontiersman by working with cattle, farming • He was also a politician by seting up campains and he was part of the U.S. Congress in 1827 and won again in 1829.
His Family • David Crockett’s parents were John and Rebecca Crockett. • He had runaway from home and married Mary Finely. • During their marriage Mary had died and he then married Elizabeth Patton.
Career before the Military • He had worked on driving cattle at his parent’s farm we he was a kid. • When he had married Mary he had become a frontier farmer. • He served in Congress and helped the settlers. • Then he volunteered for the frontier military forces and at that time he was also a hunter.
Crockett and the Alamo • Davy was a soldier in the battle and there are many legends of how long he lasted fighting during the battle. • He was a member of the Texas Volunteers. • He died there on March 6, 1836 while defending the Alamo from the Mexicans.
