  1. SCHEDULED TIME OFF

  2. SCHEDULED TIME OFF OLD CONTRACT Currently we have three buckets of Time Off: Vacation Days (10-22 days per year depending on your length of service), 12 named holidays, and 4 Personal Leave days. VACATION DAYS: 10-22 HOLIDAYS: 12 PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4

  3. SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011-JUNE 2012) For the first year of the new contract, 4 holidays will be converted to Vacation days: New Year’s Day, Presidents Day, Columbus Day and the Day after Thanksgiving. This is a straight trade. No one loses any time. The savings to the County comes from the elimination of holiday premium pay for these 4 holidays. VACATION DAYS: 10-22 HOLIDAYS: 12 PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4 • New Year’s Day • Presidents’ Day • Columbus Day • Day after Thanksgiving

  4. SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011-JUNE 2012) Now each worker has 14-26 vacations days (4 more) and 8 named holiday ( 4 fewer). Workers will use these converted holidays just like vacation. The County will be open for business on Columbus Day and Presidents day. A worker may ask for that day off (or not) just like any other regular work day. Workers who are required to work on those days will not receive premium holiday pay. VACATION DAYS: 10-22 HOLIDAYS: 12 PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4 8 14-26 • New Year’s Day • Presidents’ Day • Columbus Day • Day after Thanksgiving

  5. SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011-JUNE 2012) In addition, each worker has an additional bucket of time off: 10 Furlough days in the first year (prorated for part-time workers). The use of furlough days will be smoothed out by “paying” for the furlough days a little in each paycheck (the equivalent of about 3.5 hours per pay period in the first year, reduced to 1.23 hours per pay period in the second year) rather than just when a worker uses a day. This way a worker can use a week at a time of furlough days without having a very short paycheck. VACATION DAYS: 14-26 HOLIDAYS: 8 PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4 FURLOUGH DAYS: 10 • The impact of furloughs is smoothed out by deducting a small amount from each paycheck • New Year’s Day • Presidents’ Day • Columbus Day • Day after Thanksgiving

  6. SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011-JUNE 2012) Workers will be given a bank of furlough hours (similar to the Personal Leave Bank) with the next pay period. You may schedule them immediately with the supervisor’s approval. However, you must give your supervisor a request designating your choices for furlough days plus some alternates for all the furlough days by September 15. VACATION DAYS: 14-26 HOLIDAYS: 8 PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4 FURLOUGH DAYS: 10 • New Year’s Day • Presidents’ Day • Columbus Day • Day after Thanksgiving

  7. SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 1 (JULY 2011-JUNE 2012) Management and the Union will meet in early September to work out any problems arising from scheduling. Workers are urged to schedule furlough days early in the year. Use Furlough days and Personal Leave before vacation or Comp time. If a worker has a pre-approved vacation scheduled, the worker may substitute furlough days for vacation days. VACATION DAYS: 14-26 HOLIDAYS: 8 PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4 FURLOUGH DAYS: 10 • New Year’s Day • Presidents’ Day • Columbus Day • Day after Thanksgiving

  8. FURLOUGH DAYS – YEAR 1 MOST EMPLOYEES: 10 Most County workers will take two of their scheduled furlough days on the mandatory closure days: New Year’s Day and Day after Thanksgiving, so it will seem as though these 2 holidays have not changed for these workers. In addition, such workers will self-schedule (in cooperation with the supervisor) 8 more furlough days. 24/7 & 6-7 DAY/WEEK EMPLOYEES: 10 • Workers in 24/7 facilities, who generally do not automatically receive named holidays off, will schedule all 10 of their furlough days. Workers have from September 2011-June 2012 to use their furlough days. Workers may schedule their furlough days prior to September with the approval of their supervisor.

  9. SCHEDULED TIME OFF NEW CONTRACT – YEAR 2 (JULY 2012-JUNE 2013) Year two reduces the Furlough days to 4 and restores two holidays as regular holidays days off and eligible for premium holiday pay. VACATION DAYS: 14-26 HOLIDAYS: 8 PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS: 4 FURLOUGH DAYS: 4 • New Year’s Day • Day after Thanksgiving
