  5. Background & Justification • A large number of women have joined the labour force in recent years. The trends began in the last 80s when the garment industry immerged in the countries. • Independent migration has enabled a large number of women to avail job opportunity created by the formal and informal sectors.

  6. Background & Justification • Most of these women are unmarried and young. And in workplaces they are being deprived and exploited. They also face health and sexual harassment and hazards. All these are need to be addressed.

Background & Justification • This large number of women workers should be organized in unions and their rights like maternity benefits and leaves, equal pay for equal work, decent workplace and others should be protected. • All the three countries has ratified ILO Convention no. 100 & 111 but conventions are not implemented. Labour law updated on the conventions. Employers are use to ignoring the law of the countries.

  8. Background & Justification • With the cooperation of the ILO,ICFTU and other organisations a number of women trained by the Trade unions & now they are working to combat the discrimination. But they must have more knowledge on different issues. • Through build up their capacity on the equality convention and by their initiatives through follow up programmes, union can raise the awareness among the rank and file women members about their rights and raise voice against discriminations.

  9. Background & Justification • This project will improve Women leaders ability in working and would like to implement the conventions of 100 & 111 in the workplaces.

  10. Target Group Direct recipients: • 20 Women educators of Central women committee. • 200 Women leader in the local level of the BJSD,CMTU, CWC Implementar: Central Women’s committees Decision Maker: Executive committees of BJSD, CWC, CMTU

  11. Development Objectives • The Project will contibute to reduce discriminations against women workers in the workplace.

  12. Immediate Objectives At the end the Project the following result will be achieved: • A manual on ILO Convention no 100 & 111 will be prepared • A pool of women leaders will be equiped on ILO Convention no 100 & 111

  13. Key Outputs/Direct Results • Manual on ILO Convention on Equality • 20 trained Women educators • 200 Women leader in the local level

Indicators of Achievement • Manual on ILO convention 100 & 111will be utilize by the affiliates and the N.C • The capacity of women trainers to train others on ILO convention no. 100 & 111 will be increased. • The capacity of local women leaders to raise their voice on the workplace discriminations will be increased

Monitoring/ Reporting/Evaluation Procedures • The N.C leaders will monitor and whole activity will be supervised by the Women committee. • After completion of all activities, a detail report submitted to the National Centres and copy to the local ILO Office. • After completion of all discussion meeting , a evaluation meeting will be held to assess the strength and weakness.
