**Rule of Thirds**Quick Tutorial**What is the Rule of Thirds?**It is a way of dividing the photo into equal parts to best align subject matter**How do I do the Rule of Thirds?**Imagine a Tic-Tac-Toe Grid in your viewfinder (you might have a settings that will allow one to show) Try to align your subject along the gridlines The most optimal placement for your subject matter is at the intersection of the gridlines**When faces are present, try to align the eyes with the**gridlines**The intersections are optimal for placement of your subject.****Try to use the Cut-out’s template & the rule of thirds to**find examples of each of the elements of art in magazine PHOTOGRAPHS. • Use the frame as a viewfinder & imagine your rule of thirds grid, to make the best “new photos” (examples of the elements) as possible. • Trace and cut-out each example the same size as the template. • Glue the examples onto the appropriate spaces (the rectangles) on the definitions worksheet. • Only use photographs!!! No cartoons or drawings!!!
