  1. The Heart

  2. Veins • These carry blood toward the heart

  3. Arteries • These carry blood away from the heart.

  4. Vena Cava • Two types Superior and Inferior • Superior is a large vein which carries blood too the heart from the Upper half of the body • Inferior is large vein which carries blood too the heart from the Lower half of the body

  5. Right Atrium • Is one of four chambers (two atria and two ventricles) it receives deoxygenated blood. and pumps it into the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve.

  6. Right Ventricle • The right ventricle is one of four chambers of the heart. It receives blood from the Right Atrium and pumps it out of the heart toward the lungs through the Pulmonary artery.

  7. Pulmonary Artery • The four pulmonary arteries carry blood from heart to the lungs. They are the only arteries that carry deoxygenated blood. • When in the lungs the blood receives oxygen and the new oxygenated blood is carried back to the heart.

  8. Pulmonary Veins • The four pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart. They are the only veins in the human body that carry oxygenated blood.

  9. Left Atrium • The left atrium is one of the four chambers in the human heart. It receives oxygenated blood from the pulmonary veins, and pumps it into the left ventricle, via the bicuspid valve.

  10. Left Ventricle • The left ventricle is one of four chambers in the heart. It receives oxygenated blood from the left atrium and pumps it into the aorta.

  11. Aorta • The Aorta is the largest artery in the body, originating from the left ventricle of the heart and bringing oxygenated blood to all parts of the body in the circulatory system.

  12. Valves • There are a number of valves in the heart whose job it is to make sure that the blood has no back flow in the heart.
