First Art Class • Picture Taking • Have to use the cameras provided, do not allow for using cameras from home • Appropriate images • What is acceptable vs non appropriate – it’s your responsibility • Photographer safety – when is it not appropriate to take pictures • Lighting • Blurry images – can they work? • Cropped images – use the viewer! • Interesting angles • Limit the number of images for homework to no more than 20
First Art Class • Taking pictures of people – with their permission only! • Posing a photo to tell a story • Taking an un-posed image to tell a story • Thinking in pictures • Telling stories in pictures • Taking a series of pictures to tell a story
First Lesson Homework
Homework • Set strict deadline first time around • Signing out cameras • Checking cameras to make sure they work • Assigning or choosing a homework buddy • Review assignment • Take a photo taking trip around the school to practice with the cameras
Homework • On Deadline Day • Log in cameras • Download images to computer into student folders • Print a shuffle page for students to pick from • Check offlog • Delete images from disk to clean it out for the next time • If you have a student teacher – they can do this or train a student to do at lunch time • Have students create a photography portfolio to save all shuffle pages, final prints and photo ideas
Good Luck! • Remember to have fun… • Keep an open mind and… • BREATHE!
